ŠKODA has maintained its winning streak in the prestigious What Car? Used Car Awards by driving off with a further three titles. The Fabia, Karoq and Octavia were all recognised as the best in their respective categories, further reinforcing ŠKODA’s reputation for long term value, low running costs and exceptional reliability.
Leading the ŠKODA pack was the Fabia, which What Car? judges named Best Used Small Car of the Year for the fourth year in a row. Despite fierce competition, the Czech supermini’s combination of practicality, price and equipment made it an unbeatable package once more.
“We’re delighted to present our Used Small Car of the Year Award to the ŠKODA Fabia for the fourth year in a row.” said What Car? Used Car Editor, Mark Pearson. “We think it’s one of the most well-rounded small cars you can buy, and as a used prospect it makes even more sense. It’s great to drive, practical, reliable and refined, and no other car in this class can match its all-round competence and desirability.”
Further up the size scale, the ŠKODA Karoq recorded another category victory by claiming the Used Family SUV of the Year. The spacious SUV was named as a price point winner in 2020 (Best Buy under £16,000) but stepped up to the take the overall title in 2021 thanks to its big range, unrivalled practicality and value for money.
Explaining why the Karoq won, Mark Pearson said: “In the ultra-competitive family SUV class, the Karoq stood head and shoulders above all its rivals this year. It’s good to drive, for starters, comfortable to ride in and, above all, it’s immensely practical, with a robust and user-friendly interior and a good-size boot. It’s the complete package.”
Like the Fabia, the Octavia recorded another back-to-back What Car? Used Car Awards victory for ŠKODA. Having topped the prestigious Family Car category in 2020, the third-generation Octavia (2013-2020) proved unbeatable again - comfortably eclipsing its rivals to take top spot.
Summing up the Octavia’s appeal to used car buyers, Mark Pearson said: “Few cars can match the all-round abilities of the ŠKODA Octavia Estate. This version takes all that we love about the previous-generation Octavia hatchback - the relaxed ride, the punchy and efficient engines and the spacious interior – and adds in a larger and even more practical boot. It’s reliable, cheap to run and wonderfully affordable as a used buy. In the real world, we think it's one of the best all-rounders you can buy and a worthy winner."
