The KAROQ was also named best in class in two categories at the industry’s longest-standing awards, which this year celebrates its milestone 40th year. The influential Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year awards named the ŠKODA KAROQ SportLine 2.0 TDI 150PS DSG 4x4 best in the Family Towcar category as well as the Caravan Weight 1400kg – 1500kg.
Commenting on the KAROQ’s win, the judging panel said: “The ŠKODA KAROQ wowed the judges. When hitched, the KAROQ is composed and well-mannered, the engine gives useful mid-range punch to maintain swift progress and the four-wheel drive system means there’s plenty of traction at all times. Arguably just as importantly, with its big boot, quality cabin and roomy rear space, this car makes for an excellent unhitched daily driver.”
The new KAROQ, launched earlier this year, features an updated emotive design language featuring crystalline elements. Aerodynamics have been improved by more than 9%, meaning that the SUV now boasts a drag coefficient (cd) of 0.30 and correspondingly lower CO2 emissions. On top of this, the towing community can take advantage of an increased range of state-of-the-art assistance and safety systems.
The ENYAQ iV received top recognition at the awards in the Caravan Weight 1200kg – 1300kg category, with the panel praising the all-electric SUV’s practicality and all-terrain ability. The judges commented: “The ENYAQ iV offers a masterclass in current EV technology, exhibiting a smooth and ultra-refined character when towing. An additional electric motor on the front axle makes the 80x four-wheel drive, and the extra traction while hitched helped both on twistier roads and the hill start.”
ŠKODA has focused considerable efforts to meet the challenging requirements of the towing community. In addition to maximising the towing weights and driving characteristics of its cars, the brand has also developed a range of user-friendly options and accessories. For example, the ENYAQ iV can be specified with an electrically retractable tow bar as an option that can be deployed at the touch of a button
