Furrows Commercial Service Staff honoured at Celebration of Success

Shropshire Fire and Rescue held their Celebration of Success Awards on 22nd January at Severn Theatre in Shrewsbury. The evening honoured new fire fighter recruits and those who have passed the final development stage of their training.

Among the attendees were Glen Wheatley and Chris Smith, both members of the Commercial Service department and now fully trained retained firefighters.

Glen is a Commercial Master Technician at FurrowsTelford Commercial Workshop. He has been working at Furrows since January 2013. Glen was in the fire training group in November 2016 where he carried out his training and has been on the fire truck since February 2017.

Chris is a Commercial Service Advisor at Telford Commercial Workshop and has been with the company since November 2010. He carried out his fire training in March 2017 and has been on the fire truck since May 2017.

Both are now fully trained retained firefighters at Wellington Fire Station in Telford. There are more than 300 on call firefighters across the UK that all respond to 999 calls at a moment’s notice.

Richard Alderson, Commercial Service Manager at Furrows, was on hand on the evening to accept an award on behalf of Furrows Group for supporting the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and allowing Glen and Chris to drop everything to answer an emergency call should one come in while they were at work.
