Classic Fords at Furrows

Classic car fans from all over Shropshire descended on a local motor dealership for the first event of its kind.

Furrows of Telford hosted a classic car evening at their Haybridge Road dealership when over 40 enthusiasts attended with their prized vehicles.

Sales manager, Antony Frost, said: “We were absolutely inundated with classic Ford fans and their vehicles were incredible. It was such a fantastic turnout and everyone who attended was full of praise for the event.

“In fact, it was so popular, that we are now planning to make it a regular summer gathering and we’re already looking into the prospect of hosting another similar event in September.”

On the night, fans brought Ford vehicles from across the years including Mark 2 and Mark 3 Capris; Mark 1, 2, 3 and 4 Escorts; Mark 2, 4, and 5 Cortinas; a Fiesta Xr2i, and a Fiesta Mark 1.

“Some of the most popular attractions were the American muscle cars such as the Mustang, Mercury Cougar and the Gran Torino, and we also had a Thames pick-up van,” said Antony.

“We also had a Crayford Corsair which is an extremely rare vehicle, as well as many other cars so it was a real treat for all our guests.

“Usually classic car fans meet on car parks across the district, so it was a great opportunity for them to meet at our dealership where they had plenty of space to park up and where visitors had the chance to take a close look at the wide range of vehicles that attended.”

Furrows had invited classic Ford fans to bring their vehicles to the event to celebrate all the great models that have played such an important part in so many people’s lives.

“We’ve had a fantastic response on social media following this first gathering, and it’s clear there’s a real demand for similar events so we’ll be working with fans to organise future meetings in the coming months.”
