Am I eligible to join the Scheme?

You can apply to join the Motability Scheme if you receive one of these disability allowances:

You need to have at least 12 months left on your allowance if you're applying to join the Scheme. You can check your award length on your allowance award letter, or you can contact your allowance provider.

How do I apply?

If you’re eligible for the Motability Scheme, all you need to do is contact your chosen Furrows dealership to arrange an appointment.

If you apply at the dealership, you’ll need to bring or have these with you:

  • A UK passport or driving licence for the appointee or customer applying
  • Know the National Insurance number (NINO) or Customer Reference Number (CRN) of the person receiving the allowance
  • Driving licences for all drivers and details of any claims history
  • Your driver declaration (if the driver is not there)
  • Your grant award letter (if applicable)

If you have applied online you only need to bring or have these with you:

  • A UK passport or driving licence for the appointee or customer applying
  • Know the National Insurance number (NINO) or Customer Reference Number (CRN) of the person receiving the allowance

What do I need to take when I collect my car, and can someone collect it for me?

When you collect your new car, you need to be there even if you will not be driving it.

You'll need to take your PIN with you to sign for the car and the driving licence of all drivers. You must not give your PIN to anyone.

You can see your PIN in your Motability Scheme online account and it will also be sent in a letter.

If you have an appointee, they'll need to pick up the car for you. If you need to delay the collection, please speak to your Furrows Motability Specialist.

Is servicing covered by the Scheme?

Yes, servicing is covered as part of the Motability Scheme, and it doesn't end there. Your insurance is also included, as well as breakdown assistance and replacement tyres.

How long is my lease and what do I do when it ends?

Leases generally run for three years from the date you got your car. You’ll see this date on your lease agreement.

The options available at the end of your lease are:

  • Lease another vehicle through the Scheme
  • See if you can keep your current vehicle for longer
  • Return your vehicle and have your mobility allowance reinstated
