Kia Motors (UK) Limited’s pioneering hybrid, the Niro, has picked up the top award for ‘Used Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) of the Year’ at Car Dealer’s Used Car Awards 2020. The awards focus on those in the market who provide the best peace of mind to customers.
The Awards were held via live stream video at CarDealerMagazine.co.uk and presented by Mike Brewer on 5 February 2021. The video, which includes footage of Mike driving the winning cars, is available on Car Dealer’s YouTube channel.
The Awards judges commended the Niro for its hassle-free and modern technology, with the Hybrid variant proving both easy to drive and with the reassurance of Kia’s industry-leading seven-year warranty for both new and Approved Used cars.
Mike Brewer, Wheeler Dealer Presenter, commented: “The Kia Niro offers a hassle free driving experience that brings hybrid and all-electric motoring to the masses. It’s easy to see why the Niro has been so popular among buyers. Our judges loved the hybrid powertrain and the impressive interior quality. The Kia Niro Hybrid was launched in the UK in 2016 becoming an instant crowd-pleaser with its great fuel-efficiency and low CO₂ emissions. These make it an affordable choice, while retaining its stylish crossover appearance.

The new award win follows further recent appreciation for the Niro with it winning ‘Best Used Hybrid’ in the DieselCar and EcoCar Top 50, ‘Best Small SUV’ in the Auto Express Driver Power Survey 2020 and ‘Used Car of the Year’ & ‘Used SUV of the Year’ at the Car Dealer Used Car of the Year Awards 2019.
New Niro variants – including e-Niro, Self-Charging Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid variants – has seen additional success in January 2021 with 1,741 total sales, placing it firmly in the top 10 best-sellers for the month.
