Awards galore for Kia at Fleet World Great British Fleet Awards 2022

Kia UK Limited has been awarded a number of awards for its cars, as well as being named overall ‘Fleet Manufacturer of the Year’ at the Fleet World Great British Fleet Awards 2022.

Successor to the long-running Fleet World Honours Awards, the event, now in its fourth year, celebrates the very best of the fleet industry from manufacturers to suppliers.

Winning the outright ‘Fleet Manufacturer of the Year’ award, Kia UK was commended for its versatile model line-up, which is one of the most comprehensive in the industry. Kia vehicles are increasingly electric and electrified, while the company follows its ‘Plan S’ strategy that will see 14 fully electric models launched globally by 2027. The Korean brand is transitioning to become a sustainable global mobility provider.

“With an impressive range of cars that appeal to all areas of the fleet market, Kia had a great deal to offer in 2021. From the hugely popular EV6 ticking a lot of boxes for those looking to take advantage of low BiK rates, to the upgraded Sportage for SUV lovers, the Korean brand really is moving up in the world”, commented John Challen, Fleet World Editor.

Award wins went to the all-new fifth generation Sportage, which was named ‘Best Fleet Medium SUV’. The latest Sportage builds on its predecessor with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains for the first time, as well as a host of generously equipped trim grades.

Challen said: “Upgrades inside and out make the new Sportage a hugely appealing proposition in a keenly contested market. Styling cues and technologies taken from the EV6 are a big plus!”

Two fully electric Kia winners were named, with the EV6 picking up ‘Best EV Compact Executive Car’ and the e-Niro declared winner of the ‘Best EV Small SUV’ category for the second consecutive year.

Challen added: “The EV6 has taken the EV sector by storm with its clever technologies, spacious interior and great performance. The fact that it has won awards as a premium product speaks volumes.

“Helping to dismiss any driver’s issues with range anxiety, the e-Niro is a fantastic choice for those looking to transition from ICE to battery power. Entertaining to drive, too, which is a bonus!”

The winning trio weren’t the only Kia vehicles given recognition, with the Ceed picking up the ‘Highly commended’ prize in the ‘Best Lower Medium Fleet Car’ category. The third best-selling model behind Sportage and Niro, the Ceed family received comprehensive updates in late 2021. Challen commented: “Welcome upgrades to the interior, connectivity and styling have put the Ceed firmly in the consciousness of many fleet drivers.”

John Hargreaves, General Manager of Fleet and Remarketing at Kia UK, said: “We’re delighted to receive such high praise and recognition with these awards. To win not one but four car awards, as well as to be named the overall ‘Fleet Manufacturer of the Year’ is a truly exceptional achievement.

“Fleet sales have helped Kia achieve its best ever market share last year of 5.5 per cent, and although this has partly been down to availability of product, it helps that all three of our best-sellers in fleet have just or are about to be refreshed or renewed. Alongside the introduction of the EV6, updated Ceed family and all-new Sportage, we are about to launch the all-new Niro family, which is our second-best selling model range. We look forward to introducing these cars to our fleet customers in due course”
