Shropshire-based motor retail business, Furrows, is approaching its centenary, and has just appointed new joint managing directors to the Board – as well as making major investments across the Group.
Russ Smith and Dave Farthing have been with the company for 47 and 24 years respectively, and have played major roles in the ongoing success of the family-owned business which also celebrated a record year in 2015.
Before taking on the new Board responsibilities, Russ had been overseeing the Shrewsbury and Oswestry dealerships and aftersales, while Dave had been heading the Group’s sales operations and leading the team at the Telford dealership.
Furrows has also announced that it has been awarded the prestigious FordStore status at Telford – the highest recognition a Ford dealership can achieve. This means it will now be selling the exciting new Ford RS, Mustang and Vignale marks.
Furrows is also the only Shropshire supplier of the Ford Transit range, with a new Ford Transit Centre at Shrewsbury to be opened soon. This follows the opening in January of a substantial new Skoda showroom, strengthening Furrows’ presence in Oswestry and North Shropshire.
Chairman John Coward said: “Russ and Dave have been with us for a great many years, and played key roles in our growth and success. I am delighted that they have made it to the top.
“We are a family-owned business, with deep roots across the county, and very proud of our people,” said Mr Coward.
“These are exciting times for Furrows, and I am looking forward to working with Russ and Dave on the Board for many more years to come.”
