Furrows beats the weather at Lions Day in Wellington
Shropshire dealership Furrows beat the wet weather at the annual Lions Day on Wheels event in Wellington - and some staff came away with more than they wanted.
The expected downpour failed to materialise as Bowring Park found itself bathed in sunshine on Sunday.
Visitors flocked to see the latest models from Ford, Skoda, Kia, Mazda and Great Wall as Furrows staff found themselves inundated with enquries.
Tony Mellish, Local Business Specialist at Furrows, had an unexpected problem as the weather took a turn for the better.
He said: "Once people had realised that it was quite a dry day, we had lots of people visiting our exhibition. There was demand for all the manufacturers, especially for those with new models.
"But it was so hot, I even got some sunburn on my face. Thankfully, though, we managed to get some cream on it. We hadn't been expecting it to be so hot, but once the sun got going, it was a really nice day."
The event attracted thousands of visitors to the park, with a range of motoring-related exhibitions and activities.
And following a successful event this year, Tony is already planning for a return in 2013.
He added: "We had a lot of enquiries for all of the models we bought along, including the new CX-5 from Mazda and the Skoda Citigo. The Great Wall Steed was also popular, as was the new Kia cee'd and Ford Ranger.
"There is no reason why we won't be returning next year, especially as it was such a successful day for both us and the Lions Club itself. We have been doing this event for about ten years, so long may it continue!"
