Alan Trowsdale spent his entire career working for Furrows of Shrewsbury – originally at their Coton Hill dealership and then relocated to their purpose-built premises in Harlescott Lane.
And the management team were so impressed with Alan’s amazing achievement, that they organised a celebration dinner at The Lord Hill Hotel in the town in his honour.
Managing director Bill Cooper said many guests were invited who had known Alan during his career including former colleagues and directors of the company.
Guests included John Bennett (former managing director), Ian Moir (former financial director) and John Coward (Furrows Group owner).
Those members of Furrows Group staff who have completed over 40 years’ service also attended, and Bill said the evening was a great success.
“Fifty years is an extraordinary length of service which in today’s world it’s unlikely that many people will achieve.
“Statistics show that people change jobs on average every four years, which makes Alan’s five decades of service an incredible achievement.
“To stay with one company throughout his entire career is a tribute to Alan’s dedication and commitment, and we are very sad to see him go, but I think he’s deserved a good rest!”
Alan has now officially retired, and is planning to spend his time enjoying his new hobby – fly fishing.
