Kick-starting the new year in style, both the all-new Kia Niro and Sportage have been named as winners in the annual Company Car & Van Awards, announced today, 5 January 2023.
The all-new Kia Niro – available with three efficient electrified powertrains: hybrid, plug-in hybrid or EV – won the ‘Medium Car of the Year’ award, with judges praising its drive, economy and generous equipment. The Kia Sportage was awarded ‘SUV Car of the Year’, thanks to its best-selling combination of fleet-friendly powertrains and equipment levels.
Andrew Walker, Company Car & Van Editor, commented on the Niro’s win: “For company car drivers and fleet managers alike, the Niro comes as a plug-in hybrid and an EV, so you're guaranteed a car that works for the way you drive. Both models feature a top-class cabin with excellent safety and infotainment features, with almost all of it standard across the range. Kia can do no wrong at moment and are producing cars that tick every box, especially in the company vehicle sector.”
For the Sportage, Walker added: “How do you improve your best-selling and most successful car? Simple: don’t fiddle around too much with how it looks, tick. Offer a fleet-friendly plug-in version, tick. Offer loads of goodies even on the cheaper versions, tick. Add a great looking, top notch infotainment system, tick. And, build it using higher quality materials, tick. A great car just got better.”
The all-new Niro and Sportage were launched in 2022 and represent Kia’s best-selling model families. With a range of electrified powertrains across both models, they attract low Benefit-in-Kind tax rates. In addition, Kia launched its Business Service Promise, benefiting fleets and businesses with main Kia dealership servicing at preferential rates, with an hourly service labour rate of £49 plus VAT, £35 MOTs, a 10 per cent parts discount and much more.
No stranger to award wins in the company car segment, the Kia EV6 was named ‘Medium Electric Car of the Year’ at the 2022 Company Car & Van Awards.
